Getting Started
SimpleSpot.ca has been designed to be as straight forward to use as possible. There is a search bar located on
the top left hand side of the website. Type in whatever it is you are looking for and the search will grab all relevant
results. You can also click on the browse tab located above to have a more window shopping like experience.
You can choose to view the ads in both list view and thumbnail view by simply selecting your preference on the top
right hand side of browse pages.
Signing Up
Signing up with Simple Spot is very easy. Click on the Sign Up button on the top right hand corner of the page. Then,
on the sign up page, fill in the given fields. Once completed, click on the “Create new account” button. Cool! Now you
can do lots of fun stuff like manage your ads and post on forums.
Posting an item for sale
You do not need to register to post an item for sale. By not registering, however, you will not be able to edit or delete
your Ad. Simply click on the “Post to” tab located above and select a category. Then fill out the applicable fields and
click on the submit button. It’s as simple as that, really.
Editing an item for sale
Users who post Ads with an account have the ability to edit their ads. Go to the “My Spot” tab, and log in to your account.
You should see a list of your Ads. Click on the Ad you wish to edit. Now you should see your Ad. You will notice two new
buttons appear, "View" and "Edit". Click the "Edit" button. Change any information, and then scroll down and click submit.
Removing an Ad
Users who post Ads with an account have the ability to remove their ads. Go to the “My Spot” tab, and log in to your account.
You should see a list of your Ads. Click on the Ad you wish to remove. Now you should see your Ad. You will notice two
new buttons appear, "View" and "Edit". Click the "Edit" button. Scroll down and click on the delete button.
Messaging System
Since we don’t like spam very much, we decided to implement a system where your email does not need to be exposed. In
order to do this, we use a private messaging system. Whenever somebody is interested in an item you are selling or service
you are providing, the person interested will be able to send you a private message. You will be notified when a private message
is received, so you don’t have to check your account every day. You will then be able to further communicate via the private
messaging system. This will allow you to provide personal contact information only when necessary to complete a sale.
